Expecting & newborn (0–12 months): what you need, in order

The first year is the big-ticket year. This page puts the essentials in the order you’ll need them, from the car seat you can’t leave hospital without to the gear that matters once your baby starts rolling and eating. Each link goes to a shortlist built on Australian standards, not US or UK advice.

A note on what’s not here

Full-size cots that meet AS/NZS 2172 are not sold on Amazon.com.au, and the big Australian pram brands (Bugaboo, UPPAbaby, Redsbaby, Babybee) aren’t either. For those, buy from an Australian nursery retailer. Our bassinet and portacot guide explains what to look for in a cot so you can shop confidently elsewhere.
